Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone! I have another Valentine’s Day recipe for you all. Last year was a TERRIBLE year for love. It seems like couples were breaking up left and right. So, if you are alone this Valentine’s Day, have no fear because Clumsy Cakes has your back with this edible brownie batter recipe.

Now you will know, if you have been here for a while, that what I do more often than not is make a recipe more than once because inevitably the first time has some type of issue and are fails but for this recipe, it was so easy that I only had to make it once because this recipe is so so easy.

You could possibly make 2 servings out of this recipe. I made it to be 1. My inspiration was being lonely and sad on Valentine’s Day and just wanting eat your feelings. Or is that just me.

Whether you make the lonely, sad, eat your feeling and watch rom coms version or split this recipe in 2 for a date night, you won’t be disapointed.

Let’s Break It Down

Why Can’t You Eat Raw Brownie Batter?

We have all done it. We have all licked the bowl and the spatula clean after getting our batter in the prepared pan and in the oven. But technically, that isn’t safe to do. The raw eggs and the raw flour can make you sick. That is where this recipe comes in.

For this recipe, I used my fudge brownie recipe and cut it down to a fourth, took out the eggs and used heat treated flour.

How To Heat Treat Flour For Edible Brownie Batter

To heat treat flour to make this recipe or my edible cookie dough, just simply put the amount of flour that you need to use in a thin layer on a cookie sheet. Then pop it in the oven preheated to 350• for 5 minutes. This will kill off any nasty bacteria that may be in the flour.

The Sugar

When you are making normal baked brownies, using brown sugar makes brownies a little chewier in texture but in batter that isn’t baked it can actually make the batter a bit more gritty.

I mean, where this batter is not baked, it will inevitably be a bit gritty because the sugar is not melted but because brown sugar granules are a bit bigger, the gritty texture is a bit more unpleasant in my opinion.

Use The Microwave

To melt the butter and chocolate in my brownie recipe I used a double boiler. That way it wouldn’t burn but because this is such a small amount I used the microwave.

I just make sure to use a microwave safe plastic bowl because plastic does not hold on to heat.

I also just made sure to microwave it in 10 second intervals and give it a good stir in between.

Speaking Of The Microwave…

When I eat leftovers of this, I like to heat it up in the microwave for about 15 seconds, just so that it’s a little warm and doesn’t have that chill from the fridge.

Phew…. that was a lot.  If you have made it this far,  thanks you so much for reading and I hope this answers all of your questions about how to make Valentine’s Day edible brownie batter.
