Father’s day is coming up. Have you gotten him anything yet? What does dad want for Fathers Day? I have a few ideas for some edible gifts. The first are these Kentucky Bourbon Balls.

Can I Substitute the Bourbon for Anything?

This is one of the easiest recipes on my blog. But it starts with chopping up some pecans and soaking those in bourbon.

This kind of goes without saying but these treats are not for kids. You could replace the bourbon with another non alcoholic but it won’t taste the same and won’t be a traditional bourbon ball but you could absolutely do that.

You just want to add some other liquid so that you can form a dough like batter that you can form into balls. You can get non alcoholic bourbon here.

Beyond that, you could replace the bourbon with any other alcohol. rum, vodka, tequila, etc. Again, they won’t be traditional but that’s ok.

Dipping The Bourbon Balls

When dipping your bourbon balls in chocolate, you have options. I chose to dip my bourbon balls in just plain old melted semi-sweet chocolate. The reason being is that I wanted the chocolate to solidify completely.

The second option is to mix the chocolate when you are melting it with coconut oil, vegetable oil, shortening or butter.

This will make coating the balls easier because the chocolate will be thinner. However, the chocolate will not solidify completely. This will make them a little easier to bite into. But they will get a little melty at room temperature.

For dipping, I like to just use my fingers but if you don’t like too get that messy, you can always use truffle forks.

What Does Dad Want For Fathers Day? -Peanut Butter/Bacon Skillet Cookie

This skillet cookie is one big cookie but absolutely could be split divided into individual cookies. The cookie has real bacon bits for a salty and crispy bite.

Maple Bacon Cheesecake

This is one the older recipes on my blog. This a classic New York Style cheesecake flavored with maple syrup and bacon bits. This recipe was not originally a father’s day recipe but I thought that it fit the occasion.

Monkey Bread

Monkey bread is another great father’s day recipe. It’s a loaf of pull apart bread consisting of small balls of crescent roll dough that is rolled in cinnamon sugar. This is very easy to make up the night before and bake in the morning.
