Fruit sauces are the perfect thing to compliment any dessert.  They can add tartness as well as sweetness to balance things out.  You can use just about any fruit to make this sauce. My favorites are tropical fruits like pineapple or exotic fruits like what we are making today, pomegranate.

Let me show you how to make a pomegranate sauce.  This sauce is pretty quick to make and requires a handful of simple ingredients.  To start, you are going to put 2 cups of pomegranate juice in a medium sized pot and bring it to a boil.

Once at a boil, turn the burner down to low and simmer this for about 15-20 minutes or until the juice is reduced by half.   You will be able to see a stain of where the juice started before it started reducing on the side of the pot.

While that is simmering away, you are going to get your next ingredients ready.  To thicken this up a little more we are going to make a slurry. .  After that we are going to add in a cup of sugar.

Mix together 2 Tbsp of water with one Tbsp of corn starch until it makes a milky substance  This is what’s known as a slurry.  It’s just a mixture that thickens a sauce.  It is also commonly made by mixing water and flour.

After the sauce has reduced, add in the slurry and the sugar. Bring the mixture up to a boil and boil for about 5 minutes until thickened and the sugar has dissolved.  Shut off the sauce and let it cool.  Transfer to a differant container, cover and place this in the fridge.

This sauce is great on cheesecake but really could be used for any dessert.  Iced Cream, cupcakes cake, you name it.  I hope you try this and if you do please let me know how it turns out.
