This week I really wanted to continue to show you guys how to make staple ingredients like my Homemade Cream Cheese Recipe that maybe you can’t get at a store near you or just want to make it yourself because you don’t like the additives.  There is something really fun about making staple ingredients yourself.  I love to know how simple things are made.  We don’t even thing of these things as “made” we think of it as just bing there.  Or maybe that is just me haha.  For this addition of homemade ingredients: sour cream.  This recipe takes just about 10 minutes to put together but it has to sit in the fridge for a while so without further a due, let’s get started.

Homemade ingredients: sour cream

Process

The process for this is extremely simple.  Just add the ingredients to a sealable jar, shake it and take off the lid of the jar.  Cover the jar with a paper towel and and secure it with an elastic band.  Leave it for 24 hours to sour.  That’s it! You have made sour cream.  Just once the 24 hours is up, stir the mixture because it does separate.

Do not stir before the 24 hours is up! It will effect the texture of the final product.

I really hope you try this recipe.  It really can help if you are in a pinch and don’t have store bought sour cream.  It is also healthier without all those chemicals.  Let me know anyone has any suggestions for what they would like to see next and I’ll see you next time to with another delicious recipe and to make more messes with you all. Bye.
