Cake Balls With Leftover Cake

Easter Egg Cake Balls

Vanilla cake crumbs and frosting molded into an egg shape and covered in a candy melt chocolate coating.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of cake crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp's of Frosting
  • 2 bags of candy melts
  • Green food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

Prep

  1. Combine the cake crumbs and frosting. Massage the frosting in until you get a play doh like consistency.
  2. Place 3/4 of the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and melt completely in the microwave.

Making The Cake Balls

  1. Place 1 spoonful of melted chocolate into each cavity and use the back of a spoon to paint the chocolate all around. Covering every nook and cranny. Take special care to try to not make the chocolate shell too thick.
  2. Let that set for 5 minutes.
  3. Press the cake ball mixture into every cavity of the molds. Leaving about 1/4 inch of space.
  4. Pour on more chocolate to the back of each cake ball and spread it out evenly.
  5. Allow 5 minutes to set completely.
  6. Pop out the cake balls.
  7. Take the last 1/4.of a bag of candy melts separate them into 2 bowls. and melt those down.
  8. Add 1 drop of blue food coloring into one bowl and 2 drops of green into the other and stir them up.
  9. Decorate the outside of the eggs however you want.
  10. Let that set and enjoy.
